Concord Associates, Inc. has been selected by Reading-Bates/Conoco to perform a manning study for highly automated, state-of-the-art drilling equipment located aboard a newly designed vessel. The study will determine crew size, job design and other human performance issues.
Concord Associates, Inc. has been selected by Hoechst Celanese Corporation (HCC) to provide human performance engineering services for their chemical group. Project scope includes all aspects of plant design, operation and management that influence human performance - training, procedures, ergonomics, safety management, root cause analysis, etc. Concord was selected, according to HCC staff, because we were the only firm that provided a comprehensive "systems" perspective of human factors, an integrated team of operations, engineering, and professional human factors psychologists, and extraordinarily positive feedback from previous clients.
Concord Associates, Inc. is conducting a usability evaluation for the Weather Channel web site. The evaluation consists of a heuristic evaluation of both the existing web site and the design prototypes for future releases, and a usability evaluation of the web site, consisting of a combination of focus groups and one-on-one testing with users. The purpose of the evaluation is to elicit information from end users in order to understand their expectations, feelings and experiences, uncover specific design issues, and understand exactly how users work with the site, where they have problems, get stuck or navigate well. This information will ensure that future releases of the web site meet the needs of the users that visit. The Weather Channel ® on the Web
An ambitious project to measure the performance and effectiveness of process safety management (PSM) programs has been tested at several plants for two of the elements of PSM by the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. So far, project leaders have collected data from a number of participants in a pilot study and will use the results to fine-tune a system to measure performance of key elements of a PSM program.
Several project consultants, ...Ed Connelly of Concord Associates, Inc., have been working with a small number of volunteering CCPS member companies to test and further develop the performance measurement system. To test the project's feasibility, CCPS began by focusing on the management of change and training elements of a PSM program. [Aiken, SC] - The Defense Waste Processing Facility (DWPF), operated by the Westinghouse Savannah River Company (WSRC) for the U.S. Department of Energy, was launched into operations on Tuesday, March 12. The operation of DWPF, a first-of-its-kind facility in the United States, is a significant milestone of the DOE's goals for its waste cleanup program.
The training services provided by Concord Associates, Inc. to WSRC at DWPF have included the upgrade and implementation of training programs for Process Operators, Engineers, Laboratory Technicians, and Maintenance personnel. Using a performance-based training approach, Concord personnel have played a key role in developing and implementing effective training and qualification programs and evaluating the conduct of operations to a level essential for modern high-technology operations. This approach has stressed an integrated mix of classroom, laboratory, simulator, and on-the-job training appropriate for job performance requirements.
On March 29, 1996 Concord Associates, Inc. signed an agreement with Interactive Learning International Corporation (ILINC) to become a Value-Added Reseller of LearnLinc. LearnLinc is a software environment that combines interactive multimedia with desktop videoconferencing and true application sharing to enable corporations and academic institutions to create a "distributed virtual classroom," and conduct classes without the need to move people to a central location. Concord believes that this agreement will strengthen our capabilities in the multimedia and training environments and provide our current and future clients with an unbeatable combination for development and implementation of cost-effective distance learning.
