Information and Invitation

The South Carolina Society, Sons of the American Revolution, will hold its 15th Colonial Ball with Debutante Presentation on Saturday December 22, 2001 at the Grand Ballroom of Charleston Place, 205 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC.

Members of the Sons of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Revolution are invited to sponsor their daughters, granddaughters and nieces at the Colonial Ball. To be presented, a young lady must be single, at least seventeen years of age at the time of the Ball and be a lineal descendant of a patriot proven through the SAR, DAR or C.A.R.

The total Debutante fee is $650 if postmarked before April 1, 2001, which includes the application fee of $50.00 and the presentation fee of $600. The presentation fee increases to $750.00 if it is postmarked after April 1, 2001. Persons interested in sponsoring a Debutante should return the application along with the application fee to the SAR Colonial Ball Debutante Committee, 2267 Banks Mill Road, Aiken, SC 29803-9605. In the event of an applicantís cancellation, $150.00 of the presentation fee and all of the application fee are non-refundable. The presentation fee includes dinner and dance for the Debutante and her escort, flowers and a gift for the Debutante. The Debutante should choose her own escort and presentor. Pictures, dress and hotel reservations will be the responsibility of the sponsor.

The Ball is a very formal affair. The Debutantes will wear long white gowns and long white gloves (either cotton or kid). All other ladies will wear evening attire of any color other than white. Escorts, presenters and others having a part in the program will be attired in "white tie" (black shoes, black pants and tailcoat, white

vest, white shirt with wing collar, tie and gloves). Other men will wear either "white tie" or tuxedo "black tie" attire.

On Friday evening, December 21, 2001 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., a reception will be held to honor the Debutantes parents, Debutantes and their Escorts as guests of the Colonial Ball. Others may attend at a cost of $25.00 per person.

All SARís, DARs, C.A.R.s and their guests are invited to attend this elegant "white tie" affair. Reservations for the dinner, Debutante Presentation, and dance may be made through the SAR Colonial Ball Committee, 2267 Banks Mill Road, Aiken, SC, 29803-9605.
